MacBooks, iPads to Get Much More Expensive in Pakistan

Apple has increased prices across several Mac and iPad models due to a sharp rise in semiconductor costs that the company says has made the move unavoidable.

Among the biggest changes, the MacBook Air now starts at $1,299, up $200, while the base MacBook Pro has risen $300 to $1,999. At Tuesday’s open market PKR/$ rate of 280, this could translate into a Rs. 84,000/- rate hike in Pakistan (excluding importer margins).

Apple CEO Tim Cook said the price adjustments were “unavoidable” and necessary because of soaring chip costs.

Apple also raised the price of the base MacBook Neo by $100 to $699.

On the tablet side, the iPad Air now costs $749, an increase of $150, while the base iPad Pro is priced at $1,199**, up $200.

Overall Price Updates For all Apple Flagship Devices

Overall, Apple has increased prices for iPad, Mac, HomePod, Apple TV, and Apple Vision.

Meanwhile, prices of iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods, Studio Display, and accessories remain unchanged.

Apple has largely avoided major hardware price increases in recent years, making this one of its most significant pricing updates across its Mac and iPad lineup.
